Marketing Plans

Working with College departments, the ÃÛÑ¿app Marketing and Communications OfficeÌýcreates targeted marketing and public relations plans based on department and College goals. This includes target audience research, promotions planning and timeline development. Early planning ensures that academic and administrative departments' projects are included in our calendar of projects and completed on time. Please contact usÌýearly in your planning process.

Promotional Items

The Marketing and Communications Office produces several logo promotional items to be used for student recruitment activities. To request promotional items, please use our Swag Request Form.

MCO can also assist and approve the creation of ÃÛÑ¿app-branded promotional items for other departments. For consideration of your project, please submit the Custom ÃÛÑ¿app-Branded Product Request Form along with your plans.

Editing and Proofing

Marketing and CommunicationsÌýproofs all documents prior to release to students or the community. This service is offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Please plan at least a 48-hour turnaround.

External Communications and Publications

Marketing and CommunicationsÌýwrites, designs, edits and provides print coordination for all College publications that are intended for students and the community prior to release per the ÃÛÑ¿app Administrative Manual. This service is offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • ÃÛÑ¿app administrative Web page content is reviewed for accuracy, grammar and targeted appeal to audience(s). (see also: Web Publishing Procedures)
  • College news for the ÃÛÑ¿app website is written by MCO and distributed using various electronic tools.
  • Brochures, fliers, posters, fact sheets, etc. promote ÃÛÑ¿app programs.
  • Digital, print, radio and television advertisements are part of the marketingÌýmix for College programs and image enhancement.
  • MCO oversees all college-wide social media accounts.

Internal Communications

ÃÛÑ¿app sends a variety of electronic newsletters (e-newsletters) each week. MCO will provide editing for any batch e-newsletter to a group, working with Web Services to send your ÃÛÑ¿app-branded e-news in a timely manner.ÌýContact us for more information.

Media Coaching

To build your skills in talking to reporters, Marketing and CommunicationsÌýprovides coaching, including mock interviews and on-camera workshops. We'll advise you on speech, dress and presentation. To arrange a training session, pleaseÌýcontact us.

News Releases

Each year, Marketing and CommunicationsÌýdistributes news releases covering subjects such as national honors, major upcoming events, new degree and certificate programs, success stories and community service projects.

Marketing and CommunicationsÌýstaff also uses emails, meetings and phone calls to interest reporters, writers and editors in feature stories about the College. We will do all we can to secure publicity, but we cannot guarantee media coverage because competition for news space in Northern Nevada is at a premium.

News Conferences and Media Interviews

News conferences represent one way to handle a major announcement of interest to several reporters. In some instances, an interview is requested following our release of a story on a new program or major event. Marketing and CommunicationsÌýwill arrange interviews with the media on the College's behalf.

Responses to Reporters

Marketing and CommunicationsÌýfields dozens of media-related calls and electronic queries each quarter, providing assistance on stories, help in arranging interviews, names of experts, etc.ÌýÌýIf you should receive an interview request in an official capacity, please forward the request to the MCO Office for consideration and collaboration.

Photography

College Events and Activities

Photographs have a variety of uses, including print, social media, and web publications. Good opportunities for taking photographs include dynamic guest speakers, student organization events, unusual experiments and classroom presentations. Photos are archived for use in future projects,Ìýand are available for usage through our curated .

With the prevalence of smartphone technology, we encourage you to follow our Photography Policy and take photos of ÃÛÑ¿app events and classroom activities to submit to MCO. In a classroom setting, ÃÛÑ¿app must follow FERPA rules for student privacy, and students may decline to participate. When you have photos to submit, let us knowÌýand we will share the instructions for uploading your photos directly to our photo database.

If you require assistance with photography, please contact usÌýto take photographs of College events and activities. We request advance notice for scheduling photography; we recommend a minimum of 48-hours notice.

Employee Portraits

The Marketing and Communications Office offers opportunities for faculty and staff to have professional portraits taken at the Dandini Campus. Employee portraits are used in the employee directory and are also featured on some departmental web pages.ÌýDates and times for employee portraits are announced via internal email communicationsÌýthroughout the year.

Video Services

Depending on your project needs and timeline, we may be able to assist with video production. Marketing and Communications also maintains the account on behalf of the College.
